24

I don't remember ever seeing a time travel movie where the travelers arrive in the past at the age they were way back then.

I guess I'll never be seeing dinosaurs in person.

Bobby Jasoos

Based on the movie previews indicating this was a screwball detective comedy, I was really looking forward to this movie.
That stuff was all fun--fun enough that I would be happy to see more of Bobby--but all the tear-jerking family drama & too-serious crime connection (among other things) made me think the filmmakers forgot this was ever supposed to be comedic.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Never mind the attempts at lip-synching that don't actually count as "attempts"--seriously, no nit-picking--never mind those.

There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with this movie--nothing at all that shaving about an hour off of the interminable running time wouldn't solve.

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

If the movie ever spins itself off into frozen dinners, this would make an OK box.
I don't know if they'll want to be totally honest on the ingredients label, though.

I enjoyed this movie that is sort-of-tangentially-but hardly-at-all-really about cooking tasty food, and it gave me an idea for a recipe that surely someone, somewhere has tried before.

It would be helpful, wouldn't it, to counteract heartburn & stomach upset by slipping pepto right into the food!

Student of the Year

Does eye candy make for an interesting movie?

Not if you have interests beyond eye candy, no--not much at all.

Barfi!

Loved the physical humor, the more-subtle approach, and the fact they actually stuck with the same story after the intermission.

Of course, my eyes are still rolling over the handy way they dispatched with the inconvenient love triangle.

Raula Pai Gaya - Fun Unlimited

A singularly-awful movie: "comedy" accentuated by the overuse of sound effects rather by creating actual laughs, editing that would be mocked by an eighth-grader on YouTube, and perhaps the worst & most unnecessary attempted use of CGI I have ever seen.

If I had actually liked anything about the movie, I would have been irritated by the incompetent subtitling, which went out at random, and when it was on, employed spelling & grammar only marginally better than that which I've seen on signs at Tea Party rallies.

Teri Meri Kahaani

What I love most about this movie is the bouncy music, bright color & joyful cheesiness; the filmmakers really put a lot into delivering a movie-lover's version of the retro eras depicted.

What makes me most sad is that--and this is based upon the fact the three stories take place a mere 50 years apart--our first two sets of protagonists must have died horribly young!

Agent Vinod

A new franchise is born, I think--and if you like Bond, but don't think it's action-packed enough, or sexy enough, this movie is for you!

On the other hand, if you care about being able to follow along every single second, this may not be the movie for you.

The Skin I Live In / La piel que habito

Antonio Banderas (Spy Kids, Puss in Boots) plays the dangerous career move of asking himself, "what would George Clooney do (WWGCD)," and ends up in the most twisted deep end of Almodóvarland.

On the bright side, this would make a perfect double feature if paired with "Human Centipede."

Biutiful

Well, the acting was very good.

Other than that, I can hardly say I loved this start-to-finish tragi-tragedy and its lack of any point, subtle, allegoric or otherwise.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest

The final film in the trilogy had me on the edge of my seat, mesmerized as I probably haven't been since-- well, probably not since The Girl Who Played with Fire.

These movies are so good, that I'm really scared by the prospect of the upcoming American remakes--why try to redo a perfect product?

Action Replayy

As far as movies about guys going back into the past to make their parents fall in love go, this one ends up being a lot less funny that it could be, sadly.

What it's got over that '80s movie, though, is singing & dancing, an over-the-top flying time machine, and a much better-looking cast.

Heartbreaker

It's a comedy that's so funny & well-done, I hate to admit it's also a romantic comedy--and French.

Of course, an American company has already snapped up remake rights, & I just know they're gonna ruin it with someone like Aniston or Heigl.

The Girl Who Played with Fire

Some people might not realize that this is the same "girl" as in the last film-- so a better title might be, "The Girl, with the Dragon Tattoo, Who Played with Fire."

Anyhow, it's another scandalous mystery, and it got exciting fast, & stayed exciting.
