It

Having just recently been dragged to the re-release of an old movie (Terminator 2), I was momentarily confused into thinking this was another of the same, and not a remake.

I figured it out when I realized that the clown was most certainly not that handsome devil Tim Curry.

Naruda DONORuda

This Vicky Donor remake we never knew we needed has plenty of popping cork imagery, poorly-produced musical scenes--and yes, also plenty of fun & funny moments.

They key here, as with the original, is to leave at intermission.

Rowdy Rathore

Lead actor Akshay Kumar plays two characters, one of whom has faked his death in a flash-forward scene, and one of whom (not necessarily the other) dies (or fakes it) later on in the action.

It doesn't matter if you are confused now or during the watching of the film, or even whether you can recall any of what happened later--because the goings-on are that much fun to watch.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011 U.S. version)

The James Bond-style opening sequence was silly & head-spinning, but the film itself was well-done, & a fine remake.

Nothing about it, though, could do anything but confirm that this "instant remake" was completely unnecessary.

Arthur

This movie is hilarious, and certainly the best use of Russell Brand-Perry I've ever experienced.

And of course, I loved Helen Mirren; she could do anything--even the title role.

The Mechanic

Watchable (-ish)(sorta), but witless & overwrought.

Are we really supposed to root for a main character who we can see from the beginning of the film is flat-out stupid--and why would Jason Statham want to play said stupid guy?

The Tourist

I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie, but it ended up being very pleasant & enjoyable.

Of course, I couldn't watch it again, because knowing what we know at the end, much of what preceded makes little sense.

The Tempest

This film completely harkens back to the big-budget special-effects spectacles of the 1960s-- yes, it is THAT wretched.

I love Julie Taymor's prior work, but I think this time she's had a bad reaction to her meds.

The Karate Kid

Everyone involved with the original "Karate Kid" must be so embarassed about this remake.

That's how far, far, far (etc.) superior this new film truly is.

Death at a Funeral

An American remake of a 2007 British film-- and this time they got it right.

Just goes to show that saying the same thing with a British accent does not ALWAYS make it funnier.

Clash of the Titans

More action-filled than the original, but very much just as cheezy.

What's with the gods looking like glammed-up aging rock stars: Hades as Jethro Tull, Zeus as Cher?
