Hindi Medium
Parents with enough money to improve their local school, instead take away a slot from a needy child at the "good" school.
Just about too real to be enjoyable.

Lion
Okay, I've had some rough train transfers, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
Easily one of the best movies I've seen in a year or more.

Moonlight
Fascinating to watch, but there's no reassurance of a hopeful future.
Kinda like real life, I guess.

Fences
Without giving too many spoilers, I want to tell you that this is an adaption of the wonderful Broadway play, and not a documentary about fence construction.
Also, it is way better than that movie where Denzel played Sully Sullensully.

Pink
Nothing like the preview that made me think Bachchan was playing a masked killer, this movie begins somewhere in the middle, then dips in & out of confusion as it slowly fills in the gaps.
Bachchan's courtroom speeches would surely anger the parents of some college rapists.

Hell or High Water
Offers just enough resolution to leave room for a sequel.
This is an Art Film, though, so I know there will be no sequel--thank goodness.

Horror gets laid upon horror, upon more horror.
It's really a wonder these women can manage a smile at the end.

Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921)

Sure, a hot lead goes a long way, but even that can't distract from some things.
Things like Rishi Kapoor's wretchedly-thick pancake makeup.

Eye in the Sky
At the SeniorPlex, it was a choice between this movie & some silly thing starring Sally Field; being a Helen "Hella" Mirren fan, I chose this.
After watching her stuck in one room, barking out commands for two hours, I Hella wish Mirren had starred in the silly thing.

Bridge of Spies
This movie could have lost an hour in its running time, and still have been no more or less interesting.
As it was, the film is interesting--more or less.

Sicario
My favorite part of this movie was when Emily Blunt punched Josh Brolin in the face.
The only thing that could make this movie better was if she had punched him in the face twice.

You haven't lived until you've seen Meryl Streep sing Pink and Lady Gaga.
I, now, have lived.

Bāhubali: The Beginning
Wait: I just sat through this fourteen-hour movie (give or take several hours)--no intermission--to learn that there is absolutely no resolution to the plot until "Baahubali: The Conclusion" comes out next year, by which time I will remember none of this?
Okay, so maybe the subtitle "the Beginning" should have given me the hint...

Blackhat
Couldn't they have saved a few bucks by just starting out with a two-person cast?

Zero Dark Thirty
It's not a documentary, and it's certainly not art, so what is it?
I guess if I wanted any insight into what was being attempted here (if not torture porn), I should have sat through the whole thing--but that would have just been asking too much.

Silver Linings Playbook
Anyone who's sat through the preview already know this movie has something to do with dysfunction, I mean, what with the guy jogging around in a Hefty bag & all.
I think what the film points out, though, is we're every single one of us "nuts" in our own way--and football fans most of all--word.

Flight
The pilot in this film is named Whip Whitaker, which somehow reminds me of some other famous pilot.
The movie is not like its own preview, which in this case, is a shame.

End of Watch
The conceit of having a police officer film his days is interesting enough, but the device is not followed consistently, and there is no payoff at the end.
Got to wonder if the script was not seen as "interesting enough" WITHOUT this unexpertly-utilized trick.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
It takes longer to recite the title than it does to lose all interest in the film.
The movie does open a bit explosively, but then proceeds to open up your options to a nice, long quiet nap.
