Into the Woods

I don't know why this movie got so much hate; it was awesome!

Except for that Johnny Depp--that damned, damned Johnny Depp.

Pitch Perfect

When it comes to filmed entertainment about karaoke-lovin' teens, I gotta say, I much prefer this to "Glee."

Being as the movie is about acapella groups, I didn't end up with a headache at the end from continually wondering where the orchestra was hiding.

End of Watch

The conceit of having a police officer film his days is interesting enough, but the device is not followed consistently, and there is no payoff at the end.

Got to wonder if the script was not seen as "interesting enough" WITHOUT this unexpertly-utilized trick.

ParaNorman

A beautiful animated film that adults can enjoy--artistically-crafted, funny, and smart.

Which is fine, I guess, if that's the kind of thing you are into.

50/50

Gets the balance between comedy and drama just right, walking that tightrope with ease.

The bad news is, this could create more hypochondriacs than Contagion.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Visually stunning and hilarious from the very first moments-- and I mean IMMEDIATELY, & all the way up until the end.

I left wanting not only to read the entire manga series, but also to sit in front of the movie theater door, waiting for the sequel to arrive.

Up in the Air

You may have heard of the website that tells you at what point in the movie it's safest to take a potty break; I propose the same kind of thing to tell you when to walk out of a film for maximum enjoyment.

In this case, for your best chance of loving this as a fun comedy, I suggest you grab your jacket about an hour and a half in, during the wedding reception (you are welcome).
