Lincoln

Hey-- where were all of the effing vampires they promised?

It's like the time I went to see "Pride & Prejudice," and discovered the zombies were a lie.

J. Edgar

I generally like Clint Eastwood as a director, and Dustin Lance Black as a writer-- but it's truly the make-up department that grabs every bit of attention in this film.

What a complete train wreck.

Casino Jack

Kevin Spacey plays demon lobbyist Jack Abramoff (and plays him well) in this, the second Casino Jack movie of 2010.

I'm ready for a third & fourth film; I love seeing Abramoff & Tom DeLay getting their (way-too-light) karmic comeuppances.

127 Hours

I tend not to love pics where I know how things end; blame this for me avoiding "Titanic" (or you could blame Celine Dion, that's also a strong reason).

Though I still find the overall subject tedious, and I wouldn't choose to see the movie again, I do find the stylization very interesting and worth viewing.

Nowhere Boy

A fun-to-watch movie, even for non-Beatles fans--though it does drag a bit, and gets too worshipful at the end.

I shall look forward to a companion film; may I suggest the title "L'il Yoko!"

Julie and Julia

The truth as I see it: the worse the movie, the more fun the blog.

Julie & Julia was fun from beginning to end--and thus a real bore to write about.
