Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1

The first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, in addition to having some shocking action moments, does a wonderful job of character development, as it brings so many loose ends toward a touching close.

Unfortunately, the movie doesn't really do this, so you should really read the book.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Heath Ledger turns into Johnny Depp turns into Jude Law turns into Colin Ferrell, leaving viewers' heads spinning.

Only one thing is for certain: Vern Troyer cannot act.

Inglorious Basterds

There is the constant torrent of movies that make one want to pound out sarcastic vitriol (note this blog), and the more rare flick that makes one want to be immersed in studying great cinema.

My one-word review of Inglorious Basterds: perfect.
