The Martian

Well, of course there is no suspense involved in this movie: I mean, only an idiot would think they are going to let Matt Damon die on Mars.

I actually liked this movie a whole lot more than I thought I would--unlike the prequel they made, where I really didn't care if Sandra Bullock stayed spaced out.

(Hey!  Keep up with 2-SMR on Facebook!)

The Adjustment Bureau

You know, this movie is a lot better than I could have possibly expected it to be, with plenty of heart and laughs to accompany its action.

I could have done without the b*llsh*t theology, though.

Hereafter

Clint Eastwood is such an awesome filmmaker; print out a list of his works, tack it on a wall, throw a dart & go see that movie-- you can't go wrong!

Unless your unfortunate dart lands on the title of THIS interminably long, lethargic, boring and lifeless turkey.

Inside Job

Earnest but head-scrambling indictment of the conscience-deprived bastards responsible for our financial crisis.

Michael Moore covered this ground more effectively a year ago with "Capitalism: A Love Story."

Green Zone

A non-stop jerky camera does nothing to replace actual direction.

Early on in the movie, a character says, "this is a disaster"-- I should have taken his advice & left right then.

Invictus

The inevitable casting of the great Morgan Freeman as the great Nelson Mandela results in a film that's hard to criticize.

I was enjoying the whole thing so much I forgot to try.

The Informant

"The Informant!"-- the exclamation point in the title (along with the kazooey score) pounds the point home that this is a comedy, A COMEDY!

Without such invaluable clues, it would be natural to mistake this as the perfect opportunity for a nap.
